Busy, busy, busy

We have been on the go around here! Since Grace's surgery she has been happy and healthy. We have been working on our backyard to transform it from a mud pit to usable space. This mean lots of work! Including a patio and sod that we did all by ourselves!

We have also been back and forth to the mountains. Where a bear decided to walk up in our yard about 20 feet away from me. That's too close for comfort! Luckily he just wanted to look and then head back off in the woods. Here are some pics from what we have been up to.

Grace's last day of school party at her friend Wyn's house

There is some really bad news in my life right now. My best friend Fran has been diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma. This is a very agressive form of cancer. The fact that she is only 28 makes this even harder. She has been in the hospital for a week now and hasn't been able to go home because she now has an infection in her abdomen from where they removed the mass. The infection seems to have gotten worse since yesterday. She having her PET Scan now and from that they will be able to Stage the cancer. We are praying hard that is in Stage 1 so it is more treatable. I will keep the blog updated as to her condition. As of now they will be starting Chemo in a couple of weeks. Please pray hard and often.

This picture was taken just 2 weeks ago. You never know how your life can change in an instant.

I love the pictures of your projects and am overjoyed that Grace is happy and well following her surgery. Your parents look like they found the Fountain of Youth in the mountains! Lucky folks to be loving on both of their grand-daughters at the same time.

Amy, I have sent Fran a card and have everyone I know holding her spirit close. This is unimaginable. If there is absolutely ANYTHING I can do, please call me. I can be in a car in 10 minutes and on my way. I know that she has a big, supportive family but there is always a place for her (and the rest of you!) at the farm. My heart is breaking, but I am holding onto hope.......
