Grace has officially had her first surgery at 2 1/2. After months of ear infections and runny nose with no help from antibiotics there was only one choice. Ear tubes inserted and adenoids removed. I tell you she has been at the pediatrician and ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) for months now being poked with shots of antibiotics and probed endlessly. Luckily children are much more resilient than adults. My brave little patient prepared for this surgery like Amanda studying for her final exams. She had her doctor kit out everyday giving anyone that walked in the house a once over. Cross your finger that this phase hangs on until college...I can see it now Grace heading off to medical school. Who are we kidding the way this kid loves to sing she'll be a regular at the local college karaoke bar.
So as Grace's parents one of our God given rights is the ability to tape our child during moments she will not like to see later in life. This my friends was one of them. Below you will see the montage I have put together for your enjoyment. The order of the pictures follows Grace's actual timeline of the surgery. Meaning as the the montage gets longer Grace is more and more wasted on "Dora Juice". Yes that's what the creative nurses have dubbed the sedative they give your child before they take them away for surgery. Hands down the funniest thing I have ever seen...trumping Fran riding the mechanical bull at the York County Fair. It was as if Grace got into the liquor cabinet and broke the "no more than two martini rule". Some of the video is a little long but I got a flash of Grace in 15 years at a party. The video of her with the popsicle is about 45 minutes post op when the anesthesia is wearing off and the pain killers are kicking in. The Veggie Tales theme song has never sounded so good.
We are so thankful she is home and happy again and that I survived. Enjoy!!
