Big girl...

So we went to the park today and decided Grace was a big girl now and could sit in the swing by herself. For some reason this was a big step for me. As I sat her in the swing and pulled back I got a flash of her first day of school as I drop her off, her first prom, and her wedding day. I almost didn't want to let go of the swing knowing this will be one of many firsts. Some parts of me want her to stay just like this forever. Reluctantly I let go of the swing and when I did a burst of laughter came from her. She is such a joy and I thank all of you for sharing that joy with us. Love to all!

You forgot: the first time she gets grounded for sneaking out of the house, the first time you ground her for smoking a cigarette, and the first time she gets grounded for staying out past curfew. I say, enjoy the firsts that are happy, giggly, joyful ones!

Dimples in their hands and feet. That was my benchmark for "baby" and I cried every time they disappeared when my kids were little. I LOVE the fact that Grace was delighted with being independent in her swing. I also love the fact that she looks to, and reaches for, you and Neal. She is a joy....
